Hornbill Festival & North East India

Program
DAY 1: ROME to DELHI
Flight from Rome Airport, with AirIndia, direct flight: Time: 19.40 to 7.15 (+1)
DAY 2: DELHI to GUWAHATI
Flight at 9.30am and reach at 12.10 pm
Transfer to hotel in Guwahati and stay by the Brahmaputra River. Lunch at the hotel and relax day.
DAY 3: GUWAHATI to MAWLINONG
We start early morning to reach Mawlinong in the evening. Mawlinong is considered one of the cleanest village in Asia, and it is home to the Khasi tribe. Overnight in Mawlinong.
DAY 4: MAWLINONG to DAWKI
Early morning, we start the trip towards the Dawki river, we have lunch close to the river and we come back in the evening. Stay in Mawlinong.
DAY 5: MAWLINONG to SHILLONG
Start the trip to Mawlinong and reach Shillong for lunch time. Stay over at Shillong and relax evening time in Shillong.
DAY 6: SHILLONG
Explore Shillong city and leave from Shillong in the afternoon. Sleep in Kaziranga.
DAY 7: KAZIRANGA
Safari early morning in Kaziranga. Afternoon walk towards the river and boat trip in the chapori islands. Sunset on the river.
DAY 8: KAZIRANGA to MAJULI
Breakfast in Kaziranga and move forward Majuli just after breakfast. Check in the typical Mishing bamboo cottage and typical lunch in the guest house. Visit in the evening.
DAY 9: MAJULI
Exploring the culture of the place and the Mishing tribes. Overnight in Majuli.
DAY 10: MAJULI – JORHAT to KOHIMA
Start early from Majuli. toLunch close to Jorhat and then reach Kohima by evening. Stay night in Kohima in the pre-booked hotel.

DAY 11: HORNBILL FESTIVAL - KOHIMA
You will be taken for the festival in Kisama Heritage Village where you will spend the rest of the day witnessing folk songs, dances and locals wearing colourful traditional attire. You can also visit shops and pick up souvenirs as a memento. Lunch at the festival where you can taste some local cuisine of Nagaland. You will also be taken to visit Phesama village on your way back to Kohima followed by an overnight stay.
DAY 12: HORNBILL FESTIVAL - KOHIMA
After breakfast you will be taken to explore Kigwema village, where you will go for a village walk where you get to see some of the old traditional architect house and experience the life of villagers.Later, you will be taken to the Hornbill festival. You can witness fascinating and ethnic culture of the Nagas through this festival. You can also participate in the night carnival at Kohima where you can see people selling different items from Christmas decorations to chicken barbecue. This infect is one of the most interesting aspect of the carnival, the entire street will be filled with lights and flooded with people. After the fun affair, head back to the hotel for overnight stay.
DAY 13: HORNBILL FESTIVAL
Explore Kohima town and local market, got o visit Jakham village in the afternoon and after lunch go straight to khonoma. It will take you about one and half hour drive from Kohima to khonoma.
DAY 14: KHONOMA
After breakfast go for a walk in khonoma village where you get to witness the traditional way of life. Have a local lunch prepared with local delicacies, and go to visit the Khonoma fort, morungs and get to listen to the mesmerising folktales of the village.On last day you can go for a nature walk towards the place where jhum cultivation is practiced. Later you will also be taken to see the state animal of Nagaland Mithun. Towards the end of the day you will be entertained with some indigenous games demonstrated by the local youth and thereafter we shall try the locally prepared brew. Dinner and overnight at the Khonoma Homestay.
DAY 15: KHONOMA to DIMAPAUR
Right after breakfast around 7:00 am check out from khonoma homestays. It will take about 4 hours from khonoma to reach Dimapur. Taking the flight back to Delhi.
Dimapur to Delhi 12.45, reach Delhi at 7.20 - Trasfer to Hotel
DAY 16: DELHI-ROME
Flight with AirIndia at 14.20, reach Rome at 18.00
